FAQ

I'm nervous about using a drone for my project... How do I know the operation can be conducted safely?

It's a great question - a drone solution isn't right for every project. At Tenbo Air, safety is our first priority. Our expertise and professionalism sets us apart from other drone service providers. All of our pilots are licensed Part 107 pilots and many of us have additional certifications like Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA), Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC), and Gold Seal Night UAS Ops. We are insured and can produce certificate of insurance upon request.

Are drone services expensive?

The cost of producing high-quality surveys, maps, and inspection reports have come down across the mining, construction, energy, and development industries thanks to modern drone technology. Projects that might have taken a team of traditional land surveyors a week to complete can be done by a single drone and pilot in a matter of hours. Of course, as Jonathan Barnes of Commercial UAV News notes in his comparative analysis of drones and satellites, scale is important when considering costs. Our drone solutions typically make the most sense for projects between 2 and 2,000 acres.

How does the accuracy of drone photogrammetry compare with more traditional measurement methods?

Measurements from drone data that are collected and controlled properly can be as accurate as any traditional survey data. However, circumstances are rarely perfect. Flight altitude and environmental conditions like wind and lighting inevitably affect results. In a white paper published by Pix4D, researchers found that the overall mean elevation values of a surface created with drone data deviate only "centimeters from the “true” surface". Survey-grade accuracy, combined with saved time and money, make using a drone for your next project a no-brainer.

Do I need to get any special authorizations to use a drone service provider like Tenbo Air?

No. Tenbo Air will work to secure authorizations from any regulatory bodies that may be applicable to your project area. We work closely with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and regional, state, parish, and municipal governments to ensure that our drone operations are always safe and legal. Your organization may require a COI or the completion of a pre-qualification form, and our project managers are well equipped to file those documents.

What kind of file formats can you produce?

For video, we can export to MP4 and MOV fomats. We have 4K capabilities.

For still photos, we can export to PNG, JPEG, TIFF, and RAW image formats.

For infrared data, we can export to MOV, MP4, JPEG, TIF, and Radiometric JPEG

For engineering files, we can produce files compatible with most modelling and design software including DWG, DXF, FBX, OBJ, XML, CAD, GDB, LAS, and XYZ to name a few.

ALTA

Can Tenbo Air perform an ALTA survey?

Tenbo Air does not have a professional land surveyor (PLS) in-house. However, we have worked with PLS partners across the country in order to ensure that our datasets can be stamped at a later date.
